Triduum Reflections

The Triduum, the three days leading up to Easter (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday), are some of the most beautiful liturgies we have through the church year. Here are some reflections on these holy days.

Holy Thursday

I had the pleasure of spending Holy Thursday morning reflecting and doing some service with the faculty and staff at Archbishop McNicholas High School. What a fitting and meaningful way to spend this day! Here is some of that reflection, in case it’s helpful to you too.

Good Friday

I wrote this poem in 2001, when Timothy Thomas was killed and the city of Cincinnati imposed a curfew in response to the protests that erupted after his death. It reminds me a lot of the past year as well, not just because advocates have continued to protest in pursuit of racial justice, but because of the pandemic lockdown as well. Maybe it will resonate for you now too.
